    ecosystem initial conditions were from ecosys_jan_IC_gx3v5_20051214.nc
       except surface values in marginal seas were set to global averages
    physics started at rest with PHC2 initial conditions
    physical forcing was the Large, Yeager normal year dataset
    code was modified to let ecosystem see shortwave in marginal seas
       which is not usually the case for partially coupled forcing
    dust forcing was the montly climatology from dst79gnx_gx3v5_20040426.nc
    ecosystem marginal seas values were extracted from 26 Jan 01 restart file
    non-marginal sea values were are from ecosys_jan_IC_gx3v5_20051214.nc
    negative tracer values were set to 0
