1. summary: conservative runoff mapping between r05 and gx3v6 2. created by: Steve Yeager 3. date and time: Dec 16, 2004 4. created on: dave 5. dataset format: nc 6. endian: n/a 7. archival copy location: 8. creation summary: The following is a description of how the netcdf mapping file between r05 and gx3v6 grids was produced. run /fis/cgd/oce/yeager/POP_grids/gx3v6/mk_runoff_remap.csh (Use r05_nomask.nc grid which has had the poles clipped to 89.99 using POP_GRIDS/idl_tools/polecut_atmgrid.run) This generates a 'raw' r05 to gx3v6 mapping, map_r05_to_gx3v6.nc, and an output runoffmap.out which has NO problem links (!). Then, use Yeager's runoff mapping tools to correct/smooth/test the runoff mapping (see /fis/cgd/oce/yeager/POP_tools/runoff/README). I compiled and ran main.F90 with the following settings: file_orig = '/fs/cgd/data0/yeager/map_r05_to_gx3v6.nc' ! scripv1.4 file_corr = 'r2o.nc' file_smooth = 'smoother.nc' file_new = 'map_r05_to_gx3v6_roff_e2000r500.nc' title = "conservative r05 to gx3v6 runoff map with smoothing" efold = 2000000. ! efold in meters rmax = 500000. This generated the file map_r05_to_gx3v6_roff_e2000r500.nc, and the output log /fis/cgd/oce/yeager/POP_grids/gx3v6/coupled.gx3v6
